Top Ten Books I Resolve to Read in 2013

Top Ten Books I Resolve to Read in 2013

Happy New Year to everyone out there in Blogland. I cannot believe it is 2013 already. I have no idea where 2012 went. If you are anyway remotely like me, you had grand plans that just did not get fully realized in 2012. One of the areas for me is my blog. I have been an avid blog reader for so long and I keep promising myself I would actually make mine public and start to grow it. Well, here goes nothing!

I am giddy to start participating in the Top Ten Weekly Meme hosted by the The Broke and the Bookish. I am looking forward to participating in these over the course of the upcoming year. It will be lots of fun getting to read others and a challenge for myself to come up with my lists weekly.

Without further ado, here is my list featuring the Top Ten books I Resolve to Read in 2013:

1) The Dead and the Gone and This World We Live In  By Susan Beth Pfeffer
I L-O-V-E Life as We Knew It so much that I have been nervous to pick up the other two books in the series. Now that there is a fourth book, The Shades of the Moon, scheduled to be released this year, I need to catch up on them. I have no excuse—I own the books for goodness sake.

2) Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
It has been on my list since I read a review for it years ago but I have never managed to get it read when I have had a copy of it from the library either in print or as an e-book.

3) My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
On my shelf here at home right now. It will probably be one of the next ones I pick up.

4) Dark Mirror by Mary Jo Putney (M.J. Putney for her YA books)
I have a thing for books set in this time period, both adult and YA. Again, no excuses as this is one I own.

5) Anything by Nicholas Sparks
Gasp, I have never actually read one of his books. I have seen several of the movies (not all of them though). I think this is the year I will finally read one of his books at least. Who knows maybe I will find I really enjoy his books? I have even thought about joining the reading challenge solely devoted to his books this year.

6) Venom by Fiona Paul
I read the publisher’s blurb about this book when I attended SLJ’s SummerTeen webinar way back in August. I have picked it up several times but have not managed to start it yet.

7) The Witness by Nora Roberts
Been on my Nook since the day it released but I have not read it yet. Don’t ask me why…I generally enjoy her books.

I actually love reading nonfiction titles, especially youth and young adult titles. I have really enjoyed my experience as a Cybils judge for the MG/YA Nonfiction category for the 2012 Cybils Awards.

9) Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
It has been quite some time that I have read these books, so I really want to reread them.

10) Goddess Test and Goddess Interrupted by Aimee Carter
I love mythology so these books are right up my alley. With the newest one (Goddess Inheritance) due out in February, I want to get these read so I can read the third one too.

Yes, I realize I have listed more than 10 since I doubled up in a few of my Top Ten but if I am going to continue reading or start a series, I want to finish it. :)

Thanks Julia for hosting such a fun and though invoking weekly meme. There are so many books I want to read this year…I guess I better get to cracking now that it is the new year!

    1. I do love the Harry Potter series but it has been years since I've read or listen to them on audiobook. I think this is the year to re-read them. :)

    1. I do not think I have not heard one person/read one bad post about Thirteen Reasons Why. It has been a book I've been wanting to read but just have not yet. The covers coming out on books are just so eye-catching these days!
