Wow, I feel like July just started but now I am writing my July wrap up a bit late. July was wonderful--seeing family and friends (safely) was very much needed. With all of my family things going on this month, I did not get as much reading done as I like.

During this time period, I also loosely participated in the Reading Rush. I posted that I was going to read a total of three books during the Reading Rush time period--I marked them above with (RR). I read the group book--Such a Fun Age--the week before I left so while I did complete it, it technically was not finished during the Reading Rush dates.
My intentions were to use my spinner app to help make my selections for my reading this month. That did not hold up when I started to travel then with Reading Rush. It was too much to make them fit both. I do plan on trying to do it another time--probably in October as I think there might be a read-a-thon or two I want to try to do in September.
What I Am Still Reading:
One other book I am currently reading as a rollover from July is Before the Devil Breaks You by Libba Bray. It is book three in the Diviners series and if you follow me on Instagram, I posted about it:
Lastly, I am still finishing up the professional development book the first week of August: Unconscious Bias in Schools: A Developmental Approach to Exploring Race and Racism by Tracey A. Benson and Sarah E. Fiarman.
30 Books Challenge:
I have been participating in Jessica Brody's 30 Books in 3 Months Challenge happening on Instagram. Here is where I am, just over two months into the challenge:
I am happy with my progress. At this point, I am have ten books left with just about one month to go. Hopefully I will be able to get them finished.
Thoughts About Life in July:
How can it be August already?! I return to having to be in my physical school library space this month. I am on countdown and I cannot deny that I do not have some trepidation to returning.
Home: This month we traveled to see family as I mentioned above. We wore masks the while traveling and anytime we were not alone or just with family. It was very much needed. This month we had made plans for friends from Michigan to visit us, which we agreed to keep even with the pandemic. Both families talked frankly about what our exposure risk and decided we could manage it. It was a lovely time, but as a family of introverts the quiet is now appreciated again. :)
I also got my hair cut much shorter than I have been wearing it this past year. It was very much needed and appreciated. Picture on Instagram if you are curious. :)
Work: I am continuing to read and prepare for work. I have A LOT of work I need to accomplish prior to returning to school. Anyone who does not work in schools--teachers (and school librarians in my case) work hard even over the summer. Given what is happening in the United States, I feel like it is even more so this summer as we are all unsure of what will be happening.
Committees: Along with my own work, I have been working on committee work including statewide work and also my national committee work. I have been having many conversations for the upcoming CYBILS season too.
