Why I Love Being a Reader and a Blogger

Reasons I LOVE Being a Reader and a Blogger

1) Reading is a way for me to escape reality because lets face it--sometimes reality sucks. I can escape to another world, be another person or take a vacation without leaving the comfort of my own couch on any given day.

2) Being an avid reader led me to spending a lot of time in a library as a young person and started working in libraries in high school.

3) Blogging allows me to connect with other readers, including internationally! That is such an amazing experience to be able to connect and chat with readers all over the world.

4) Reading challenges me to consider viewpoints I may not otherwise do so.

5) On a similar note, I am able to explore topics, places and discover new interests by being introduced to them in books.

6) Blogging has helped challenge me to read out of my comfort zone by reading all the great reviews, participating in challenges and blog tours.

These are just a few of the reasons I can put into words at the moment. What about you--what is your favorite reason for being a reader and/or blogger? Be sure to tell me in the comments below and leave me your link if you participated this week.

Other Happenings:

  • I participated in TTT: Swoon Worthy Reads, which I broke up by young adult, new adult and adult titles for my organizational soul.
  • I helped to revealed Cora Carmack's All Lined Up--I'm uber excited for this book because I am a college football fan and I love her books--a winning combination in my playbook.
  • I participated in the Fighting for the Edge blog tour & there is a $25 Amazon gift card up for grabs with it!!
  • I am gearing up for my March read-a-thon: Take Control of Your TBR Pile
  • I had an amazing edible chocolate art program at my library, a Harry Potter movie marathon and have been prepping for a huge program in April. It has been consuming lots of my energy.

Books I Received this week:

Through various means, I received the following books for reviews:

Special thanks to Danie, from The Bookish Brunette, for passing along:

I had a blast doing a read along with Danie and Katie (Spirit of Children's Literature) with Pivot Point by Kasie West so we were thrilled when Danie graciously shared her ARC with us of Split Second. :-) I will be passing it along to Katie once I am finished with it. We had so much fun we are going to do another read along soon!

Upcoming this Week:

  • I am participating in the Love for Books Read-a-Thon
  • Hopefully several reviews if I can finalize their drafts
  • Let's Talk About It: my discussion post here at Love. Life. Read will hopefully be up on Wednesday. I hope you join me in discussing BOOK OBSESSION!

All Lined Up by Cora Carmack Cover Reveal!!

All Lined Up
By Cora Carmack
ISBN: 9780062326201
Publication Date: May 13, 2014

In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.
Dallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.
But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.
Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated.
Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter.
And neither of them knows how to walk away from the attraction they feel.
“Laughter + heartache + hot sexual tension = the perfect Cora Carmack book.”

Swoon Worthy Books: A Top Ten Tuesday Post

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, perhaps you are in the mood to celebrate with someone you love or maybe you are in the mind frame of avoiding the holiday as much as you much as you can. I mean, how ridiculous is that we are bombarded with holiday decorations before Halloween is over then Valentine's stuff before the holiday's have been packed away? I know I for one, am a little annoyed with the stores.

Despite all the stores' shenanigans, I for one, still love a great story that make me want to sigh and swoon. The reasons for this may vary...perhaps it is because of the very sweet love story, the beautifully written novel or perhaps that the characters have overcame what feels like insurmountable odds to be together in the end.

I Wish I Could Read This Book Again for the First Time...A Feature & Follow Post

Hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read

This Week's Question: If you could read a book for the “first time” again, which book would it be? Why?

What an intriguing question to have to answer this week. :-) There are many reasons I could think of wanting to return to a book but to want to go back to read a book for the very first To approach a book with fresh eyes, a fresh memory...not to have all the expectations or thoughts associated with it.

In My Opinion, It is Okay to Cry...A Top Ten Tuesday Post

Hosted by the lovely crew of The Broke and The Bookish

I openly admit I am an emotional reader. To me, there is nothing better than latching onto a character--getting pulled into their trials and tribulations and FEELING their ups and downs. Along their pathways, I am so moved that I admit, I shed tears. To me, that is what GREAT books are all about. When I am so utterly and completely moved by whatever is written on that particular page, that the author can bring me to tears.

Happy 2nd Anniversary to Entangled!

Entangled is turning 2!

From our friends at Entangled Publishing...

Two years ago this February, Entangled launched our first category imprint with Indulgence. The Marriage Bargain, one of our first releases in Indulgence, went on to be one of the top selling books of 2012 and catapulted Jennifer Probst to the USA Today and NY Times bestseller lists. Since then, we've grown to have six category romance imprints, as well as single title books for teens and adults in our Select, Edge, and Teen imprints, and have had multiple USA Today and NY Times bestsellers. It’s been a wild three years!
